One More Thing About The Writers' Strike

I am not an English teacher, but I believe the following to be true:

Writers Strike - Incorrect
Writer's Strike - Incorrect
Writers' Strike - Correct

If any of the above statements are untrue, please feel free to correct me, Poindexter.

Looks right to me. There's more than one writer and its their strike, right?

I think it's "Writers' Strike", like you said. It's a possessive plural.

jon and dr z, thanks for confirming this.

Now comes the hard part -- if anyone sees reference to the ongoing strike where the incorrect variants included in this post are used, it is our responsibility to indicate it should be spelled writers'.

Just because writers are striking doesn't mean we should allow people to get all sloppy with the English language.

Are you allowed to write this?

it is indeed WRITERS'. Thank you for taking a stand for the proper placement of the apostrophe.

yup - you nailed it.

I saw a sign this weekend that got me going on the same track:

Condo's for sale.

But then it dawned on me that "condo's" could be the contraction for "condominiums" -- so sometimes I think you need to know the intention.
