Actually, Professor Heinrich von Bondie has proposed a model of the universe in which galaxies are arranged in a kind of pants shape, with two tubular planes joining into a singular tube. Apparently this explains worm holes, black holes and the concept of antimatter, but within this model the concept of "Thursday" is impossible. Hence the obvious backlash.
