Every participant has one or more songs that I am unfamiliar with, so this will be a righteous injection of power pop for me. I hope it will be the same for you, too.

There are also plenty songs that I know and are very happy to see included (hello, "Ca Plane Pour Moi")!

I'm pretty confident each person is going to have to provide at least some of their selections to me -- just have 'em ready to go, if'n you don't mind.

UPDATE:
Not wishing to risk angering the mix tape gods, Beth has been added to the mix. Hey, she's a big star in the world of mix tapes, and I am happy to have her participation!

Tell me what you need and how to get 'em to ya. I'm excited. My own accompanying blog piece is ready to go!

WAIT A MINUTE:

You have a Power Pop mix tape — without a single Big Star track???

Blasphemy. Is it too late for me to play?

Beth, I was talking with a friend of mine, who said Big Star should be included as well.

You can play.

I'm going to be honest, I read the Wikipedia article, I'm looking at these songs (many of which I know) and I'm still not sure what Power Pop is...

Softer than punk.
More melodic than new wave.
Lighter than glam.
Stronger than bubblegum.
More intimate than arena rock
It's a small niche.

I was debating the power popness of the different selections (including my own) with a friend of mine.

When a mix is finally published, I generally ask the participants to write a post explaining their choices for the mix.

Perhaps in the post the mix participant can also describe what power pop means to them -- maybe it's more of a subjective term than I initially thought.

Hmmm, interesting. Allen's comment does explain it a bit more for me. It seems that in the Venn diagram of musical genres, power pop does cross over quite a few.

I was thinking about Big Star. But I thought everyone would have Big Star, so I didn't put any on my list.
