I need to make an adjustment to my recently-created November holidays.
Due to circumstances beyond my control, I won't be able to participate in Mismatched Shoe Day on November 9th.
As a result, I now decree November 9th to be the following holiday:
Pretend To Read Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged In Public Day
Whether it's on a train, bus, or out and about at lunch, have a copy of Atlas Shrugged with you and pretend to read it.

Ah, this brings back memories of Read Atlas Shrugged in public days of my youth: all of us gathered at a park bench, pretending to be intellectual and sophistocated. Those were the days.
My brother did his master's thesis on Ayn Rand. I don't know how. I can't even get through the thesis, let alone one of her books.
I may have to do this, especially since I work at a college. Should I wear a black beret?
Do you lose points if you accidently really read it?
Do I have to if I already read it? I might seizure just looking at it again.
What about carting the Cliff's Notes around that day? Does that count?
well if you want to build arm muscles it might not be a bad thing.....
What the hell man? Holidays are supposed to be fun. If I want torture, I'll go around telling DHS officials that I'm Muslim.
dguzman, good times!
ctc, if you want to instead pretend to read your brother's thesis, that's fine, too.
mcgone, if you got it, wear it.
barbara, there is no point system in play here, so no points are deducted due to you having read the book. Just make sure you're pretending to read on the holiday, rather than actually reading.
ten s, I recommend that you use the last Harry Potter book and simply switch the dust jackets.
franiam, since I've already opened the door for CTC's brother's thesis, I'll have to allow this as well.
dc, I think literature should be judged by the pound.
randal g, aw c'mon, it's fun. It's like an Ayn Rand happening.
